1. Brief Introduction of Products:

The round nut used in hygienic sanitary union fittings is commonly referred to as a slotted round nut or dairy nut. These nuts feature indents (notched slots) around the exterior circumference rather than flat sides, which are specifically designed to be tightened or loosened using a specialized C-spanner or peg wrench rather than a traditional hex wrench. 

2. Depending on the exact global standard of the sanitary union, there are a few primary types of round nuts:

• DIN Slotted Round Nut: Used primarily with DIN 11851 Fittings (highly common in Europe and the UK), this round nut features 4 or 6 slotted notches around the perimeter and is used to secure a male threaded part, liner, and seal. 

• SMS Round Nut: Found in SMS Sanitary Fittings, which are originally a Swedish standard. They generally feature 4 distinct slots.

• Blind Nut / Blank Nut: A solid-faced variation of the round nut that does not have a hole through the center. It is used to cap off an exposed male union end and is often equipped with a retaining chain. 

In contrast, other sanitary thread types, such as IDF or Bevel Seat unions, traditionally utilize hexagonal nuts instead of round ones.
