 2. Common Variations:

• Spring Check Valve: Uses a spring to push a shutter or plug against the pipe aperture. When the forward fluid pressure exceeds the spring's "cracking pressure," the valve opens. When the flow stops, the spring snaps the valve shut to prevent backflow. 

• Ball Check Valve: Relies on a heavy ball that rests in a chamber. Forward fluid pressure lifts the ball to allow flow; once flow stops or reverses, gravity rolls the ball back into the seat to create a seal. 

• Air Blow Check Valve: Utilizes pressurized air to open the valve, often used for clean-in-place (CIP) pipeline evacuation.
